NKS 20 80/80 is an aluminium-faced PIR board from which the ventilation duct itself is fabricated. In the conventional system the duct is made of galvanised steel sheet and then insulated from the outside; here the insulation is the body of the duct.
The board size is 1200 x 2400 mm and the thickness is 20 mm. The aluminium thickness on both faces is the same (80/80) and the board is produced for indoor ducts. The surface has a stucco embossed texture; the texture increases the rigidity of the aluminium.
The thermal conductivity of the PIR core is 0.022 W/mK, so every centimetre gained from the section in the suspended ceiling void turns into air flow. The closed-cell structure and the aluminium facing together address the condensation side. Indoors and on short runs 20 mm is usually sufficient; as the condensation risk increases, a greater thickness is used.
