"A quality panel" carries no information. In panels, quality is a chain verified separately by independent bodies, and every link of it has a document. The question to ask on the purchasing side is not whether quality is claimed but which document says so.

The product itself: EN 14509

Self-supporting double skin metal faced insulating panels are produced and declared to EN 14509. The standard defines how the mechanical and physical properties of a panel are determined and which values appear in the declaration of performance. The CE mark and the declaration of performance come from here.

Fire: EN 13501-1 and EN 13501-2

Two separate standards, two separate questions:

  • Fire class is the reaction of the material to fire and is given to EN 13501-1. A2-s1-d0 for rock wool and hybrid cores, B-s1-d0 for PIR and B-s2-d0 for PUR.
  • Fire resistance is the resistance of a building element in minutes and looks to EN 13501-2. A class such as RE 30 or RE 60 is written only with a test report.

Confusing the two is the most common mistake in the sector, and when it reaches a specification it is expensive.

Thermal performance: EN ISO 6946 and TS 825

The thermal transmittance of the section is found from U = 1 / (Rsi + ΣR + Rse). In Türkiye the thermal insulation rules for buildings are defined in TS 825; the region and the type of use set the target value.

That calculation stands open on this site: the U-value calculator gives the result for the section and the heat loss calculator its annual value. The method and the assumptions are written on the page itself, because what makes a result open to discussion is that the calculation is open.

The system side: ISO 9001, 14001, 45001

Product certificates say what the panel is; system certificates say that the order producing that panel, every time, has been audited.

A value with no document is not written

The most visible result of this approach is the fields left blank. The fire class field is empty for products with an EPS core on this site, because no EN 13501 class has been published for them. Writing an estimated class misleads whoever writes the specification, and the cost of that is paid at the permit stage.

The same rule holds for numbers: thermal conductivity, density, cover width and panel length are written on the product card and all come from the product data, not from marketing copy.

A five-line checklist on the purchasing side

  1. Is there a declaration of performance and a CE mark
  2. Which report is the fire class based on, and for which thickness was it given
  3. Is the thermal conductivity value that of the core, and is the U-value of the section given separately
  4. Are the ISO certificates current, and does their scope cover this production site
  5. Does the load table belong to the product, or is it a "similar product" table

If all five can be answered with a document, quality has been discussed. If they cannot, the only criterion left is price.
